Press Release and Notices June 06 PRESS RELEASE
June 05 PRESS RELEASE
June 04 PRESS RELEASE HENLEY T&V REGATTA OFFERS TWO NEW TROPHIES AND £750 PRIZE MONEY Henley Town and Visitors’ Regatta is offering a £750 cash prize and the new Peter Sutherland Challenge Cup to the most successful club competing at the regatta, which takes place on Saturday July 31st. The T&V Regatta is unique in holding three-abreast racing on the Henley reach and the current Committee is committed to extending the success of an event that has been running since the 19th century. “Each year we receive lots of positive comments from competitors and spectators, showing that there is a great love for this traditional summer regatta on the Henley reach. There’s always a thrill when you race at Henley,” says Regatta Secretary Mark Davies. “Being based on the lawns of the Royal Regatta and using the same 60ft umpire’s launches really adds to the atmosphere of the day and gives the T&V a special quality that everyone enjoys. For many rowers it marks the perfect end to their serious rowing season.” A second new trophy is being donated by Henley’s Phyllis Court Club. The Phyllis Court Cup will be for Women’s Senior 1 Coxed Fours, one of 17 events for women and 23 for men at this year’s regatta, ranging from novice singles to elite eights. Men’s eights entering the regatta are also invited to compete in the lunch-time Sprint Eights event for the Henley Rowing Club 150th Anniversary Trophy. The
closing date for entries is midnight, Saturday 24th July.
