THAMES VALLEY PARK

At Thames Valley Park Henley notched up four wins and narrowly missed out on a further two. The WJ15 Coxed Quad of Florence Lock, Kate Thomas, Joanna Moore, Abbie Stephens with Cox Sophie Lloyd did well, despite having two of the crew recently returning from injury, making it through the heats to the final only to be beaten in a close race by Dame Allice Harper School.

Similarly the Womens Junior Coxed Four consisting of Kate Chapman, Alice Skinner, Orla Millar, Kelly Whittaker with Joe Holmes coxing, were leading in the final when another crew veered from the navigation channel onto the course causing the final to be stopped and in the second attempt Haberdashers Monmouth managed to get in front and claim victory.

The Womens Junior Eight however was an entirely different story, the crew consisting of Kate Chapman, Alice Skinner, Orla Millar, Kelly Whittaker, Raphy Varley, Ailsa Buck, Florence Lock, Cathrine Wilson with Joe Holes coxing stormed off the start and held a rating of 40 for the entire course to beat Haberdashers Monmouth and Emanuel School in what turned out to be revenge for the previous Fours race.

In the J13 Single Sculls Jo Unsworth, who is actually only 12, raced and beat scullers from Lady Eleanor Hollis and Guildford easily in the first heat. She qualified for the final to meet Tideway scullers, who unfortunately capsized halfway down the course, and Reading who she beat by 2 lengths improving her time by some 27 seconds and looking in control throughout the race.

There was a further success for Henley in J15 Single Sculls which was won by Tom Hope beating a strong field of scullers from Windsor Boys, Marlow, Molsey, Tideway Scullers and others.

The WJ14 Coxed Quad of Charlotte Mills, Becky Norman, Bryony Stevens, Amy Fitzgibbon and cox Olivia Corbridge won their event in a tough fought out contest that included crews from Tideway Scullers, Marlow, Haberdashers Monmouth, Kings School Canterbury and Molsey RC. It was, however LEH and Putney High School they met in the final which they won by ½ length in a closely contested race.
