Henley Rowing Club’s Pat Ward and Karol Braun won the Veteran 'H' double sculls. In their semi-final, Henley, facing Auriol Kensington, got off to a flying start and never looked back, drawing away steadily to finish four lengths ahead. In the other semi-final Stratford-on-Avon just defeated the much-fancied Riverside Rowing Club from Australia. In the final, at 250 m Henley and Stratford were level when Stratford put in a spurt gaining half a length. They kept this advantage as far as Fawley when Henley responded and Stratford had no answer. The winning margin was three and a half lengths.
