Picture shows HRC members receiving the Victor Ludorum from UTRC President Peter Sutherland
Last Sunday the Upper Thames Fours and Pairs
Head took place with the 219 crews that took part having to battle over
the 3000 metre course against strong
head winds and generally very stormy conditions.
Henley Rowing Club however coped with the difficult conditions rather better than most recording nine wins and were awarded the Victor Ludorum as the most successful club of the day, beating Oxford Brookes University into second position on points. The fastest time of the day was notched up by Henley in the Mens Open Quad Sculls in a time of 10:09 minutes beating the next fastest quad by almost half a minute. Henley's Mens Senior 2 Coxed Four also did exceptionally well not only winning their division but were 9 seconds faster than the winning crew in the Mens Open Coxed Fours. The junior boys had a particularly successful day winning Junior Quad Sculls in 10:54, the 9th fastest time of the day, beating many top mens crews and their success continued in Junior Double Sculls which they won in a time of 11:24 the fastest double of the day, again beating many good senior mens quads and doubles. The other wines for Henley were in Mens Open Double Sculls, Mens Senior Coxless Fours, Mens Senior 2 Pairs, Womens Senior 2 Doubles, Womens Senior 3 Doubles, Mens Junior 14 Coxed Quads and Womens Junior 14 Coxed Quads
