The Scullers Head
Henley Rowing Clubs Senior and Junior Women had a successful trip to the Tideway to compete in the Scullers Head of The River Race. This is a particularly tough race sculled over the 4 and quarter mile Boat Race course from Mortlake to Putney with nearly four hundred sculler taking part with entries from all other the world. The tideway is notorious with oarsmen and women for its tough conditions but on this occasion conditions could not have been better with very little wind and almost flat water. The conditions obviously suited Henley's Junior girls with Lucy Lewington winning the junior trophy and Kaye Davies taking second place. This continues a good run for Lucy in the big London Heads having already won The Pairs Head this year and finished second in The Fours Head. The fastest of the Clubs women scullers was Caroline Hocking who finished fourth in the very competitive Women's Veteran A category, Nicky Barras finished third in the Women's Vet C category Katharine Boothroyd and Natalie Robinson finished in the middle of their categories Women's Senior 4 and Novice respectively.
