Marlow Regatta

Henley Junior Boys J16 A and B quads took part on Saturday in the 150th Anniversary
Marlow International Regatta at Dorney competing in the Joe Doyle Memorial Cup event.

In the first heat, the B quad fought well to finish in 4th position giving them a place in the repecharge whilst, in heat 2, the A quad came in second to Windsor Boys School,  giving them a place in the final.

In the repecharge, the B quad were unfortunately not well placed enough to make the final but, showed the strength of the current Henley Junior Boys Squad.

In the final, the A quad started well and by 250 metres were just behind Windsor Boys school but , by 500 metres Henley were level with these 2 boats were pulling away from the rest of the field. By 1000 metres, Henley had pulled out a half length lead which despite pressure from Windsor Boys School they were able to maintain and extend to about a length by 1500 metres. In the last 500 metres, Henley continued to extend their lead crossing the winning line over 6 seconds ahead of Windsor Boys School.

This win should certainly boost their confidence for the Fawley Cup which they have entered for the Royal Regatta.
